I think it's a great and also fairly new field to study. I come from a mechanical engineering background so the beginning was a bit rough for me. But professors understand that and usually explain again even the most basic physics needed. There are a variety of courses to choose from which is also great. A lot of optics companies and research institutes are around and usually have student jobs especially if you do well in your studies. Best of luck everyone.
